Hi there,

Sorry if this is the wrong section, it's CPU/GPU question.

I'm building a new computer (desktop) and am concerned about a problem that I have with my current laptop. I don't want it to reoccur on my new desktop.

My current laptop's situation: https://superuser.com/a/710310

(screenshot below of my laptop's Nvidia Control Panel)

I'm looking at the new Coffee Lake CPUs, i5 8600K and i7 8700K. Both have intergrated Intel GPUs.

I'm concerned that the intergrated Intel GPU will interfere with the Nvidia GPU (and Nvidia Control Panel) on my new desktop, like it's doing on my laptop.

Should I be concerned or is there no reason to, because of different software and drivers?

The new desktop will be using Windows 10. I need the Nvidia settings for Nvidia surround.

If you have any questions, just ask.

Thanks in advance!

If you're referring to the igpu being used over the dgpu , then that's not a problem on desktops . you just plug your video cable in the gpu you want to use .

But keep in mind coffeelake is basically unavailable everywhere.

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

You'll be fine that kind of thing only happens on laptop to make'em more power efficient, on a desktop once it boots using the dGPU it will use the dGPU only.

The iGPU wont be a problem on the desktop platform, the computer will use the dGPU, just plug in the video cable in the dGPU so the computer recognises that you are using the dGPU. In terms of stock limitations with Coffeelake, its virtually unavailable everywhere, until new stock arrives.
