hi I have

ryzen 5 1600

asrock x370 sli killer (not ac)

16gb (2x8) corsair 3000 defat timings on ram: 15-17-17-35

I'm trying to get my ram to run at 2966 and at default its running 2133 (I belive this is normal and to be expected) when I use the boards defauld (and only) xmp profile to get the ram to run at 2966 the computer powers of and on five times then when it boots to windows the ram runs only 1mhz faster (2134) I have tried even pusing to 3200 and still the same

my cpu isn't yet OCed and I am only on stock cooling and saw no point as it turbos to 3.7 any way

how would I get my ram upto speed or does an xmp profile work like cpu boost whereby it only runs at 2933 when needed?

I'm new to all this overclocking business and any help would be appreciated

thank you
