HDD buzzing

nicholaswillems

Hello there,

I've got my PC since august and I'm really happy with it, the only problem in my opinion is my HDD.

I expected it to be loud, way louder than the rest of my system, but today I heard it buzzing for about a minute while idling, and I'm not too sure if that's a good sign. I recall watching a video where Linus said that your drive may be dying then :S

Would it be a good idea to bring it back (if the warranty covers that) or should I just go with it?

Thanks!

It is probably dying.

Probably best to buy an external HDD and back up all your information!

Check if its just vibrating and so resonating your case. That can be removed by adding rubber o-rings between case and hdd. Or other rubber things.

My case also has rubber brackets and my HDD still resonates. But if your isn't resonating, then bad luck :/
