Hey guys back for more help with my old Dell E520 budget Lan Rig which is running great btw.

Im thinkin of buying a quieter (not that noise usually bothers me) 120mm fan to go in the front of it, now anyone who knows anything about BTX dells will know that they have one big 120mm fan in the front of the case that pushes air through in my case a massive 6 heatpipe cpu cooler and then through to the rest of the case which means i only have to buy 1 fan which is great because i had Noctua in mind and their expensive af.

This pc already runs pretty chill with its Q6600 and 750ti but im looking at putting a QX6700 in it soon as it has an unlocked mulitplier alowing me to overclock it with throttlestop  (i would use setfsb on the q6600 like my others but this mobo has a max fsb of 1066 so that wont work and the q6600 has a locked multiplier. The point is heat output us gonna be increased so im thinkin a better fan for noise and possibly a cooling benefit too. I know the dell uses a proprietary cpu fan header i already have an aftermarket fan in the pc and it works fine with a molex to 3 pin adapter minus the cpu fan failure warning on startup.

So yeah theres the background info now can someone recomend me the best fan for the application which i imagine would be a noctua and in that case if possible id rather have one of their gray fans even if its a bit noiser because holy shit their tan and cream fans are the ugliest thing since 90's beige pc's i dont want one of those ugly mofos in any of my pc's.

Cheers guys.

What are your current temps? The stock fan is rather beefy and a lower rpm fan from noctua would probably result in less performance.

A 3000rpm iPPC NF-F12 should be able to maintain similar performance but wouldn't be as quiet as the normal NF-F12 or NF-P12.

Temps never get above 60 under load with the Q6600 at stock mind you, but that mostly has to do with the F off big CPU cooler this thing was fitted with since from factory it had a Pentium D. The reason i was thinking it might get a bit hot is because ill be overclocking the QX6700/QX6800 when i get it using throttle stop and i'm thinking that's when temps start to climb. It currently has a Thermaltake blue LED case fan not the stock fan in the front of it at the moment btw which is what i'm getting these temps from because i like the blue led but i'm happy to pass that up for a better fan if the new cpu is getting toasty.

Where are you shopping/located? If you don't like the brown/beige of NF-F12/P12's, Gentle Typhoons are a great alternative.

Australia.
alright cheers ill look into em'

GT's seem to be a bit difficult to get a hold of in Australia. Some good alternatives include the Vortex: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/ZVkD4D/cougar-case-fan-cfv12hp

and SW3: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/2rvZxr/be-quiet-bl068-733-cfm-120mm-fan-bl068
