upgrading CPU/MOBO. questions

i'm upgrading my mother board and CPU to a ASUS ROG Strix B250F Gaming LGA1151 ATX Desktop Motherboard and an i5 LGA1151 socket. my question is if i want to keep my OS that i have on my C: drive at the minute what drivers do i need to uninstall before replacing them?

is it just these or more?

If your upgrading your CPU and motherboard I highly suggest you reformat the drive and install a new copy of Windows.

what id the difference? in reformating and buying an new os  and uninstalling drivers and keeping the os?

this is my first time trying to upgrade hardware and downt have the money to buy an extra OS if i dont realy need to 

do i need to?

What OS do you have at the moment?

Backup you'r importaint data and reformat (you can use the same windows key just look it up in google)

windows 10 which came woth the pre built pc when i bought it

so i have know idea what or even if i have a windows key

If you don't have a self bought copy of Windows what I'd do is put the Windows 10 Media Creation tool on a USB (https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10) , install that and use it unactivated until you can afford to buy an activation key.

i've actually found a windows 7 cd and activation key. but if i use that what would happen if i reformat my c:drive do i loose everything?

A Windows 7 key will not activate Windows 10, the only way to get that to work is to install Windows 7 and then upgrade to Windows 10 as it will automatically transfer the key from Windows 7. It will NOT work if you only install Windows 10 and type in the Windows 7 activation key and yes if you reformat the drive it wipes everything.

well is there a really a big point in formatting, if windows 10 automatically runs on the right drivers after installing / replacing a new mobo and cpu? plus you keep windows 10 and dont need a new one?

Yes it stops problems within Windows trying to find the old hardware, if it can't find the old hardware then Windows becomes very unstable.
