Personally I'd just go with used hardware, not new stuff.

And what do you mean 65 RAM?

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

mb, sry

alright, but what used hardware? what cpus would work well? I know from other posts I made that the xeon 1230, 1240 and 1245 would work, any other consumer cpus that would work?

65 MB?  a Pentium 166 MHz should do then /s

Any machine playing or hosting games should have at least 8 GB, maybe 16 if they are intense.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

nah, one game 2d and other like minecraft, but less optimized. 166 MHz??? that's awfully low, and what do u mean by the /s?

8 should be fine then, that's been the standard for a long time and it will hold on for a while longer yet I think

about ram I know, I just need to know about cpu's, if I need more ram ill just upgrade.

tbh I'm not sure what it takes to host minecraft anymore... It was always an incredibly CPU-bound game, but couldn't utilize many cores effectively.  That said, that was when playing it.  I'm not sure if the demands for a server that is not outputting visually would be different... I suspect it would.

Nah this is not like minecraft, just type unturned 3.0 in google or utube and look at the images and stuff. Dst is not a problem, i will only have 10 players max on it, and an intel hd laptop can run it no prob.

oh sorry I thought that was what you were trying to run xD

" like minecraft, but less optimized "

Hm, oh my, I didn't realize that could be possible lol  Well like I said I'm not sure what it would take; the CPU demands for preparing things for the GPU to render can sometimes make up the vast majority of the total CPU load, so even CPU demanding games might be easy to host if the server is not rendering anything.

That should help give a good idea what it will take to run it with 30 or more.  If you could check the RAM and CPU that would be useful.

And also, I wouldn't host a minecraft server because no one would come, they all just go to the most popular ones, unturned works diffirently, so i can profit off that, lel.

8gb ram, gpu, so wierd radeon running at 1100mhz or 1000mhz and ill check the cpu in a bit. So sad the computer died, I had all my stuff on it.

Not computer, the SSHD

:/ Try to use linux if you can, the overhead should be lowered by quite a bit.

Also, if an old dell laptop can run 20 people, a decently new used i5 off ebay should work enough for 30 people easy.

I doubt the GPU would come into play if it's just hosting without rendering anything, but you should be able to look up the model number and get exact specs for it.  Alternatively, if the machine still works and ti's just a dead HDD, you could boot up another OS on a USB stick and check the specs that way

That said it can't be that old if it has an SSHD

Yeah that would be ideal

All in all it's not really any different from previous generations.  That said building a whole new computer for this is probably excessive, unless you need a new PC anyway and want to just host this on the side, which you could totally do.

Yes, ill get a new pc since that laptop sshd died, and ill sell it since it runs fallout 4 at 5fps or so... i rly wanna play that game ffs i rly do and i just can't with 5 fps. And forgot to tell u, the laptop ran Unturned 10-20 players while i was playing on that laptop too, of course i didint have any plugins or many mods, so i would need more power for this, also, Unturned has really grown, has huge maps and lots of stuff and events, its way more demanding now, at least when playing.
