Need Help Picking a CPU

 I have a $3,000 budget for a new PC. I want to use this machine for Mostly Gaming, Programming, and light multimedia editing. I was going to pair whatever CPU with an Asus Strix 1080ti 11GB card. I have been on the fence about whether to go Intel or AMD as this will be somewhat a Gaming Workstation. Thanks for replies and help

No peripherals. I was gonna do a ibuypower PC. Save some time building it. But too sketchy. But for 3500 I couldn't gotten. Two 1440 27" monitors and all other peripherals. But no just the PC is 3000

You are the exact target for the 8700k.  The best gaming you can buy and plenty of multicore power for programming and light multimedia editing.
