What does windows mean by optimizing

Alright so I was going and defragging my drive and windows has my ssd set to "optimize" which is the same word it use when defragging my hdd is there actual settings to optimize ssd's or is it trying to defrag an ssd because one ssd's do not need to be defragged and two copying and replacing files is not good for ssd's so what exactly does it mean by "optimize"

optimize is a generic term they mean that depends on the type of device.  To optimize a HDD means to defrag, and to optimize an SSD means to TRIM.
