Doing a system build and am completely out to lunch with PSUs. Buying a 1600x (because it's on sale and the 1600 isn't and I save more than enough money to buy a cooler better than the stock). and also looking between the 1050ti and the 1060 6GB. Looking to OC both the CPU and the graphics card. I watched a few example video's on how much extra a component requires when over clocking, and am wondering if my choice is ok. Or if I should look elsewhere before purchasing.

Looking at a 750 watt 80+ gold from Corsair. Not enough, ok or bad choice?

PS idc about the RGB since the case has no window haha!

I don't think that setup would draw more than 300 watts, so 750w is a bit overkill. Maybe you could look for a 500w PSU?

It's OK, but you don't need 750W. With your specs a CX-450M or a CX-550M would be good enough. :P

Any PSU from Tiers 1, 2 and 3 is fine though:

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K | Motherboard: AsRock X99 Extreme4 | Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming | RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws4 2133MHz | Storage: 1 x Samsung 860 EVO 1TB | 1 x WD Green 2TB | 1 x WD Blue 500GB | PSU: Corsair RM750x | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro (White) | Cooling: Arctic Freezer i32

Mice: Logitech G Pro X Superlight (main), Logitech G Pro Wireless, Razer Viper Ultimate, Zowie S1 Divina Blue, Zowie FK1-B Divina Blue, Logitech G Pro (3366 sensor), Glorious Model O, Razer Viper Mini, Logitech G305, Logitech G502, Logitech G402

750W could power three 1600X+1060 systems. Get a Corsair CX550. You also might find a happy-ish medium at a 1060 3GB but that's up to you.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Are you sure? I plan on doing quite a bit of OCing past the AMD's advertised 4.0 boost. I have seen a few OCing guys pull much much more than normal when dong this.

I'm more than certain. Look at the plugs on a 1060. I think the highest-end ones have a single 6+2 pin connection. That means the card could draw an absolute max theoretical 225W (75W PCIe + 150W from the plugs) while the 1600X consumes, without OC, about 85W http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-5-1600x-cpu-review,5014-9.html

With OC perhaps bring it up to 170W-ish to be safe and you're still more than in the green, and I can guarentee you that system isn't going to pull as much as a heavily OC'd 3770K and GTX 680

TL;DR, Jay managed to draw about 350W from the wall (not the PSU, keep in mind) with the 680 and 3770K.

Ok. As cringy as his 80+ explanation was. The rest was a very eye opening. He's running more fans and other crap than I can afford, so I guess a 550 will be good. :)

Yeah, it was wrong (if there are any further explanations you might need I have a topic in my signature about that and it's also pinned on the PSU/Chassis subforum) but you see how much power components actually use with that video.
