Welp. Here's an odd one.

I recently bought a mac g3 to flip, but I first want to reset the system as it has a bunch of private stuff from the previous owner.

Is there any way in the software that I can reset the system? Alternatively, how could I go about burning a boot CD and resetting it that way? Retro Mac tech is way over my 'paygrade'.

Mac OS 9 is pretty much Public Domain at this point, get an ISO from here.

I'm pretty sure the G3 can run up to OS X 10.6, the CD version of 10.3 is here

Ah thanks! It's just a matter of burning it with a Windows computer and inserting into the g3 right?

I'm actually not sure tbh. Something like IMGBurn should do it from Windows I'd imagine.

Guess I'll be digging up the ol' CD-Rs tomorrow. :P

Now if only I could find the boot floppys for my Macintosh SE...

Mac OS 7.0, 7.1 & 7.5 floppy images are here

Unfortunately that site has nothing earlier :(

Yet again, thanks! :D

Some internet digging could probably yield some isos somewhere.

Yeah, turns out I lied. The site labelled it as System Software (with no indication it's Mac OS) but everything from 1.0 to 6.0 is here

Just a heads up, the G3 iMac can only run up to 10.4.11 if it’s a newer model. PPC Macs can only run up to 10.5.8, so 10.6 is out of the question even for G5 Macs.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

I think it's a newer model with 256mb ram standard. Still need to dig up the other settings.
