Random high latency

Hawx

Over the past two days I've had problems whereby my internet connection piles on ~140ms of latency around once an hour and takes a router restart or a 5 minute wait to fix. Websites fail to load and online gaming becomes impossible. I've already tried factory resetting my router and downgraded its firmware to the previous version (as I updated it 3 days ago) but neither had any effect.

Doing a traceroute during one of these spikes shows this:

While it normally looks like this:

For context, I'm on FTTP/PPPoE, so #1 is my router (a Netgear Nighthawk R7000), #2 is (probably) the internal connection box, and #3 is (probably) the external connection box.

Networking isn't my area, so I'm unsure what exactly this implies. Could it still be my router's fault? Or is it wiring damage/an issue with the internal connection box?

i had the exact same issue, it was simply just the wallplug that connects ur coax to the modem for example :v had to be replaced because it was causing signal loss
