Hi I have just put together my first ever build, see the pcpp link for details.

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/matio57/saved/stK3FT

I have followed PC build guides and put everything together myself.

Upon turning it on, I don't get any signal to my monitor. The fans start running and the mobo led's light up but upon plugging in my mouse and keyboard via the USB sockets directly on the mobo neither receive power or turn on. What do I need to check?

Try connecting the monitor to your motherboard for starters

Just to be safe ...

1. 4/8 pin EPS/ATX power is pluged in? (I guess so, since normaly this would result in a boot loop). GPU power cables plugged in (correctly? just check and reseat all power plugs).

2. Did you tried your RAM sticks in a different slot? Also try one stick at a time in each slot!

3. You didn't forget to place the mainboard standoffs correctly aren't you? Any unnecessary standoff need to get removed!

4. Did you tried different display cables, in different slots in your monitor/GPU?

5. Does your monitor turn on without any display input (does it even start? can you get to the OSD menu) maybe the monitors PSU isn't working.

6. Try to start the PC with as less USB devices plugged in as possible, unlikely but sometimes some devices cause issues on startup.

And.

7. Are you sure the GPU is working, it's a used one I guess and if you just brought it from someone he might ripped you off. (try a different GPU)

I got it working, had to re-install the CPU. It wasn't fully installed and came out when I took the fan off. Problem is I don't have any thermal paste so really need to get hold of some. Otherwise, it's all working beautifully now.
