OK, so i have this great idea for a way to control my room. I have a harry potter remote control wand (Link at the bottom) and i want to try and use it to control my philips hue lights. My idea is beucase the wand works with IR i point the wand at the Logitech harmony hub and it blasts out a singal to the philips hue bridge and thus my lights turn on.

Is this a crazy idea or would it work

If you can program the wand to give the correct IR for turning the lights on and off, it should work.

But does the logitech hub take ir control or bluetooth. The wand works by replicating an ir signal sent out by a remote. My goal is to program the lights on button on the remote, program the wand to shoot out that ir signal and then point it at the hub.

Not sure.  Has the info, but you might wanna ask the maker.

I have tried, i got the same answer every time. Logitech Harmony Hub only works with the logitech Harmony remote and Logitech Harmony App. So not very helpful

This sounds like something IFTTT could potentially handle. Sending an IR signal to something that can then tell IFTTT to turn on or off the lights. Just a thought. Idk if the Harmony hub can accept and transmit signals in the way you're wanting it to.

What could i use to interface with IFTTT that takes ir

Well, they did answer. If it works, they haven't tested or verified it.
