Pretty much settling on a build after a long long time of debating.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4vNbbj

This is the build I chose, I am still going to wait for coffee lake to see how it compares but I'm really liking how this build turned out.

I do have a couple questions however...

Do you think the 1700 and gtx 1080 will be able to handle 1440p and be able to match up with the monitor?

Is it worth switching to a X370 MOBO or does it not really matter?

Thats about it, if anyone has any other feedback please let me know. Thanks

1. Not with the highest settings. I expect about 120fps in more demanding games in ultra settings

2. X370 is not necessary unless you want SLI and not worrying about VRM problems since most X370 come with improved VRM to B350 alternatives. Your current choice is a good one anyway, so dont worry

Thanks :) Do you think coffee lake will be worth it? I wanna see benchmarks but I also don't want to spend the extra money and have to wait for it to come in. Its a hard choice, leaning towards Ryzen right now. I feel like the extra cores will be extremely beneficial to me now and in the future for work and what not.

Also add that Zen 2 might bring higher clock speed and you might want X370's beefed up power delivery to handle the power draw.

As for Coffee Lake, you are aiming for the 8700k right? If the work you throw at it can use 8 cores then as long as you work more than you play games, you should get Ryzen. Besides, if you have extra money, it should go to the graphics card.

No extra money. very tight right now. I think I'll stick with Ryzen. What is Zen 2?

Zen 2 is the future CPU architecture of AMD, using socket AM4.

Ignore last quote, just saw its 2019. So far away, I may upgrade in the future. I don't completely understand the B350 and X370 difference. I'm not that advanced at all, do you think I would be fine with the motherboard I chose to just simply overclock and play??

It's fine. I mean, choosing X370 is just because it's better. It's not worth buying X370 instead of B350 when you have a tight budget.
