Make sure to unlock your bootloader before you fill it up with data. Coz you will loose everything.

I learned the hard way.

Install SwiftKey, powertoggles to make your life Easy. Also head on to xda-developers for more fun stuff.

Here is the link to nexus 5 index. All sorts of mods and roms and kernels

The screen isn't considered to be one of the strongest ones on the market.  You might want a case.

Corsair Obsidian 800D | Msi GD-80 z68 | Intel Core i72600k (stock speeds at the moment) | Msi Gtx 570 twin frozr III | 8GB Corsair Dominator @1600mHz | Coolermaster evo 212 temporary) | Cooled by Gelid Wings | Intel SRT smart caching | Windows 7 ultimate x64

its gorilla glass 3 just like the galaxy S4 and the LG G2 but the problem is that google fuse(glues) the screen and the glass together (which give the illusion that you are touching the screen) hence, if you break the glass it wont be like other phone, you will probably have to throw the phone away.

Best advice: don't drop your phone.

I bet there's a toolkit available that will allow you to unlock the bootloader, root, and install a custom ROM in minutes.

Desert Storm PC | Corsair 600T | ASUS Sabertooth 990FX AM3+ | AMD FX-8350 | MSI 7950 TFIII | 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 | Seasonic X650W I Samsung 840 series 500GB SSD

Mobile Devices I ASUS Zenbook UX31E I Nexus 7 (2013) I Nexus 5 32GB (red)

The Nexus Root Toolkit works with the Nexus 5

CPU: AMD FX-8350 | CPU Cooler: H80i | Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 | RAM: 8GB Kingston Beast 1866MHz

Case: Define R4 | GPU: Gigabyte GTX 780ti | PSU: Corsair CX600M | SSD: 250GB Samsung 840 EVO

.... and a Partridge in a pear tree!
