hdmi port not working..

so i have my main 24 inch monitor(the one that i use for gaming) connected to my gpu(gtx 1060)

decided to connect my smaller 18 inch monitor for multi-tasking while gaming, i only had an hdmi cable lying around, and the gpu only has one hdmi port which is used for my gaming monitor.

so decided to plug it in my motherboard, but for some reason its not working.. is it a motherboard thing?

u have to enable the igpu if u wanna connect it through the motherboard

 

motherboards automaticly disable the igpu if u connect a pci-e card

 

however u can change this settings that both gpu,s stay active

The GPU now processes the graphics related things, not your motherboard.

the mobo is related to the igpu that is on the cpu since he has a hdmi input on hes mobo hes got an igpu aswell, he said he plugged the cable into hes motherboard hdmi

You’ll have to see if your motherboard supports using the iGPU as well as a dGPU. You should just get another cable or adapter to use your main GPU. The performance would be better.

theres not a single board that did not have the ability to do that, if u set board to boot igpu first then the pci-e gpu will always still run

that is a rly modern board, yes it supports it only very old legacy boards dont have it

i just went to the bios, and then to Chipset, but didnt find any option for anything that has to do with graphics/monitor/gpu etc..

browse through your motherboard manual, its way easier to find in there

the motherboard's manual chipset "page" is not as mine, mine has much less stuff..

some settings are hidden unless u set another setting in the bios to reveal them ( such as asus ai tweaker ) on normal u might not see alot of settings while if u set it to advanced it will show more ( that is just an example )   everything in ur particulars motherboard manual should be in the bios ( unless that particular manual is for more motherboards in 1x )

 

however i am 100% sure u have a setting to enable igpu
