260 Pin RAM questions

Auleo

So im browsing for some 2x8GB 260 pin ram and I found two sets: one 2400 and the other 2133

is the difference significant? I'm going to be using this for gaming. Neither one has a built on heat spreader, but RAM doesnt get that warm.... does it?

It will make a modest difference to gaming performance, when you're not bottlenecked by the GPU.

A heatspreader is not necessary except maybe for big memory overclocks (which I doubt is relevant to you).

not really.

it can make a few percents of difference, especially if you're running Ryzen, but it's not worth spending any more than a few dollars over.

you also don't need a heatspreader unless you're running one of corsair's crazy 4600Mhz kits, and even then, you don't need a heatspreader if you have good airflow.

I would go for 2400 unless there's a big price difference.

nah, just cruising on ebay, the 2400 doesnt list a specific brand or model etc. and its 3 bucks less than the 2133 which is a kingston hyperx impact module
