Hello everyone,

I am new to this site but have been watching Linus' channel for years.

My question is: Does anyone know of reputable DDR 4 companies/products that are not that "flashy".  I am building a $1000 system but do not really need flashy Corsair vengeance or g skill or anything like that.  Pretty much I just want stripped down RAM (just green sticks) that isn't garbage.

Thanks for all the help!

Very true.

But are there any other ram companies/products that are less than $100 or so?  I am building a closed system and places have $40 sticks.  I am NOT trying to buy crappy looking ram AND it performs like crap.

I am already building a thousand dollar system and this is including the $150 for the vengeance (2133) 16 gb.  so its not that big of an issue, I just wanted to know if people knew of any other products that didn't exactly look that great.

Thanks for the reply,  I really to appreciate it!

Unless you go for some no-name rip off, it's pretty much impossible to get bad RAM (not talking about DOA modules, that can happen even with the most expensive RAM).

Crucial tends to have good priced plain RAM. I'd advise looking at PCPP and basically picking the cheapest set with the specs you want, all of the RAM on there is at least decent. Most of it is made in the same factories anyway.

I was looking at Crucial and didn't know how reputable they are.

My only concern is buying ddr4 without a heat spreader. You may be limited to 2133 due to the fact that anything higher is considered an overclock. Overclocks require more voltage. More voltage generates heat which is why there are heat spreaders to begin with. Heat spreaders dissipate heat prolonging the life of the ram. They serve a purpose and aren't there just to be 'flashy'. You may find a higher frequency kit without a heat spreader, but it may cost more than simply buying a 'normal' ram kit.
