Hello everyone,

With black friday behind us, I have found myself in the middle of building a new PC.

The case i have chosen for this build is the Aerocool DS (Dead Silent). I chose this because it had a layout similar to that of the Bit Fenix Prodigy MITX case internally, but is able to stay classy and mature on the outside like the phenom.

My questions is in regards to an ideal Positive pressure airflow inside the rig. This, to my understanding, is best for eliminating dust and managing the internal heat buildup (Please correct me if I'm wrong).

Below are two schematics for airflow that i'm arguing between to achieve the best cooling.

I will have the CPU hooked up to a water cooler. Size depends on set up.

Any thoughts on these setups would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

The second one will cool much better. Maybe try to 120's in the front? Not sure if it'll cool better but they could run slower and push as much air in.

Ok great, thanks for the help.
I think that this case forces me to be stuck with the 200mm fan in the front. I cant be 100% sure until i get in on thursday, but i think i remember seeing a review where they marked off for not having the option for other fans in the front due to lack of mounting holes.

I guess you could always make your own.

Alright, so I'm about to buy the water cooling needed for the CPU, just double checking here.

I should buy a 240mm rad and place it on the top instead of the 140mm rad for the back of the case?

Also are corsair water cooling rads still reliable or is there a better performing rad?

What PSU will you be using? im getting this case aswell and i wanted to use one of these

max length of the psu is 160mm according to aerocool and this powersupply is 160, but i have gotten very different information from different sources

Aehm, PSUs dont work that way, they are pulling air from the fan side and blowing it out to the back of the psu.

Otherwise #2 :D

Indeed.

Don't power supplies pull cool air in from the bottom and exhaust hot air out the rear?

Also, warm air rises...

(That's why are honeycomb vents at the bottom with anti-vibration mounts)

You could go option 2, but depending on your other system components:

  • Use H90 where the 140mm exhaust is, pulling air out
  • Drop the top 240mm rad and just put intake fans there

  • 4 weeks later...

Good day everyone. I've recently embarked on my first build, and using the DS for the case.

Everything went well and the build looks great, but I want my system to run very quietly while still giving a very decent amount of cooling.

So for the cooling, I am upgrading the front fan to a Cooler Master Megaflow 200 unit, and the rear will get a Be quiet! Pure Wings 2 140mm. The top will get 2 Corsair AF120 white LED fans.

The stock CPU cooler is gonna get upgraded to Cooler Master TX3 EVO unit. Now, my question, how should I arrange the fan on the CPU cooler radiator?

Would it be better to place the fan in the front so that it pushes air through the radiator and it then gets exhausted by the rear fan, or should I place it so that it pulls the air through the radiator an pushes it to the rear exhaust fan?

Thanks in advance
