Have you enabled XMP?

i actually did enable xmp like 5 hours ago and it changed it to 2933Mhz but when i clicked the save and restart thing the pc kept turning on and off, it did that for like a whole minute, so decided to unplug the powersupply cable, and turn the psu off and then on and replugging the cable, and it booted just fine, but i was still scared so i turned XMP off,

so i want to know if it is safe..

The timings were probably too tight on your XMP profile, try changing those timings to achieve that frequency.

Also, it would be helpful if you would tell us your PC specs, as all motherboards OC different (also, I would be willing to guess your CPU doesn't support 3000Mhz memory, but rather your motherboard supports that OC).

The power cycling is a feature.  If you make changes to ram frequency or voltage, the board will attempt to 'learn' stable sub-timings by powering off/on a few times.  You might even be able to adjust these 'fail attempts' in the bios.  My ASRock board defaults to 3 attempts.  If I'm trying for a really aggressive overclock, sometimes I raise that number higher to give the board more opportunities to successfully boot.  If it's unable to find a 'working' set of sub-timings due to your changes, it'll load defaults, 2133 ram, perhaps even stock CPU frequency.

i have 2x8gb 3000mhz ram sticks (LPX Red to be exact)

but my pc is running it on 2133mhz, so im not getting what i paid for..

so how do i change the ram speed in a safe way,

and yes my cpu supports 3000mhz,

thank you in advance.

I'm assuming you're using the setup in your profile. Have you updated to the latest bios version for Gigabyte GA-AB350M-Gaming 3? It'll help with ram overclocking by improving compatibility/stability. http://www.gigabyte.us/Motherboard/GA-AB350M-Gaming-3-rev-10#support-dl

Ryzen will run 3000MHz ram at 2933MHz.

pretty sure my ryzen 1700 supports 3000mhz, i dont know how to change timings..

mobo: gigabyte ga-ab350 gaming 3

cpu: ryzen 1700 8 cores overclocked to 3.4ghz

ram: LPX Red 8Gbx2 3000Mhz Pack

pretty sure other specs dont matter..

i did change to the ab350 (atx),

didnt update bios tho.. didnt feel like it would help, as my board does support 2933 with this bios version. (version is f5)

Try turning on a XAMP profile, one that makes the timings higher. Or manually set the timings, something like 18-18-18-38 is basically guaranteed to work and you can always try to tighten up the timings from there.

Be sure to have some pen and paper handy, to write down the exact timings you're trying so when you have to reset your BIOS (you will have to/it will automatically once the OC fails) you know what timings you were trying.

FYI, that CPU support up to 2667Mhz, anything above that is an overclock achieved by the motherboard:
