For the longest time i've had a 90 mbit download speed though we pay for 300 mbit down (recently upgraded to 400 mbit) but i still recieve 90.

i'm confused because my brother upstairs is connected to the same switch but he's getting the 300 mbit down we're supposed to get.

i have no idea what kind of switch it is but every port is the same (i tried switching to other ports with no better result).

also my motherboard supports 1000mbit so that's not the problem.

as you can see in the picture the partnet isn't capable of higher speeds, but how is my brother upstairs getting higher speeds?

(i also tried manually switching from auto negotiate to 1.0 gbps full duplex in speed and duplex settings but that doesn't work)

cables maybe?  some old cat5 cables cant support gigabit, or it could just be a bad cable.  or maybe your brother is just using all the bandwidth.

cable could be the case, i found a test which says it's 225 meters but i'm pretty sure it's 25 meters at most.
