With Vega being the disappointment that it is, I don't see Nvidia releasing Volta gaming cards any time soon. Earliest we'll see them is probably Q2 of next year IMO.

If you're in the market for a new GPU, don't wait. Just buy one and enjoy.

New Build (The Compromise): CPU - i7 9700K @ 5.1Ghz Mobo - ASRock Z390 Taichi | RAM - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3200CL14 @ 3466 14-14-14-30 1T | GPU - ASUS Strix GTX 1080 TI | Cooler - Corsair h100i Pro | SSDs - 500 GB 960 EVO + 500 GB 850 EVO + 1TB MX300 | Case - Coolermaster H500 | PSUEVGA 850 P2 | Monitor - LG 32GK850G-B 144hz 1440p | OSWindows 10 Pro.

Peripherals - Corsair K70 Lux RGB | Corsair Scimitar RGB | Audio-technica ATH M50X + Antlion Modmic 5 |

CPU/GPU history: Athlon 6000+/HD4850 > i7 2600k/GTX 580, R9 390, R9 Fury > i7 7700K/R9 Fury, 1080TI > Ryzen 1700/1080TI > i7 9700K/1080TI.

Other tech: Surface Pro 4 (i5/128GB), Lenovo Ideapad Y510P w/ Kali, OnePlus 6T (8G/128G), PS4 Slim.

NVIDIA's Volta cards are a ways away.

If you're going to be always waiting for the next big thing, you're going to be waiting forever. If you're looking for a GPU upgrade, I suggest you buy now.

I agree with above. We will not likely see Volta until Q2 of 2018. That is 3/4 of a year from now. I would buy now, but the mining craze has jacked up gpu prices...

My country doesn't have any mining craze so i think i'm ok.

Thank you all, next question is what to buy - Gtx 1070\1080\1080 ti.

Depends on the game and resolution.

If you can afford it, there's no harm in getting the most powerful card (the GTX 1080Ti).

I'd get the 1080 with your monitor's resolution. Should be able to maintain the desired FPS your monitor needs.

However, if you are like me where you don't compromise in your graphics settings in the slightest, then 1080 TI is the only choice. Provided you can afford it of course... I was barely able to afford mine.

My need to buy a new GPU comes from Pubg mainly(i also bought witcher 3 and put off playing it until i get a new GPU),

playing pubg 1080P everything on VERY LOW i'm getting 50~fps with massive drops, pretty much unplayable,(i don't think the game even supports SLI)

also like you said i have a 144hz monitor which i need to utilize.

Looking at the prices i won't buy a 1070,so it's between the 1080 and 1080 TI.

If you aren't planning planning on a 1440P or 4K monitor, the 1080 would be your best bet and cheaper route, unless of course you just want to say you have a 1080TI.

7900X, Asus X670-E ROG Strix , 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6000, 2 x Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB NVME, Samsung 980 Pro 1TB NVME,  EVGA RTX3080TI FTW3

EVGA Supernova P2 1000 PSU w/ CableMod, Asus Xonar DSX, Lian Li Galahad 360, Hyte Y60, Corsair K70, EVGA Torq X10, (1) Alienware AW3418DW Ultrawide, (1) Acer Predator XB271HU 1440P, Logitech G535

No GPU at present is able to push PUBG at a steady 144 FPS on high/ultra settings, as the CPU becomes the limiting factor. A heavily OC'ed 7700K and 1080 TI can get fairly close though. With a 1080/1080Ti plus your CPU, you might be able to come close if you keep the settings low, but your CPU will be the biggest bottleneck.

Just wanted to point that out.

I always prefer performance over quality,i have no problem dropping settings to get 144hz.(generally 100+ is good for me unless its CSGO)

I'll probably get a 1080 but i'll keep thinking about it,

Thank you.

The strix is nice. The g1 is also a good choice. I wouldn't go for the the factory oc'ed models unless they are the same price, as you can always overclock them, and the chips usually aren't binned.
