Very long boot time!!!

I need help, my windows 10 takes a lot of time to boot, I'm using creators update and windows 10 pro 64 bit, my pc is ryzen 5 1400, gtx 1060 6gb, 16gb dd4 2400 mhz ram, 1tb segate 7200rpm hdd and my old hdd which is 500gb segate, all on b350 motherboard by gigabyte. can anyone help me solve this issue, there is no slowing down when gaming or anything else just the boot time takes very long, and the C: drive is not even 50% used. All advises are appreciated thanks.

You have Windows installed on a mechanical hard drive, which will always slow it down. I'd recommend getting an SSD or doing a clean installation of Windows on your hard drive.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

60 seconds is perfectly fine for booting up, especially when you factor in programs that are set to load upon startup. If you have your OS (C:) drive installed on your "older" 500gb seagate drive, this would explain it as well, and if that drive is 5400rpm compared to 7200rpm it will of course be slower.

Getting a SSD is the answer you're looking for.

Once more, 60 seconds isn't even bad.

then won't I have to reinstall all the games and softwares?

Yes, but your system will be faster., as long as you don't clutter it up.

hmm is there no other option? it started ever since i updated windows a  few months back.

Don't power down or restart your pc unless necessary. Sleep mode or hibernate will do the trick until you get a SSD.

A clean install will have a faster boot time but once you start downloading all your files back to the drive the difference may not be too noticeable. It is an option though and you can always redownload your frequently used games while you go to school/work/etc...

Pretty much any ssd will do you just fine. The samsung 850 evo ssd's I've purchased have all been extremely reliable over the past 2 years and show no signs of degradation at all. The 250gb will be perfect for your OS+future updates and a handful of useful software.

Can't 100%  confirm, but the Samsung software that comes with the SSD should be able to do that for you.

Your C: Drive is most likely your OS drive... when you get the SSD you will want to either move your OS using the software to the new SSD (for faster boot times) or clean install windows on the SSD. If you choose to reinstall windows on SSD (my recommended method)  then you can reformat your "old" C: drive and merge the 2 volumes.

okay then thanks for your help and since 1 min isn't that bad then i guess I will save a bit more money to get the 250gb instead of the 120gb ssd and I am guessing since it will be faster, installation should also have no problems.
