best 3d modeling tool

hey

building diy moded pc is always my dream. however,because of lack of money and space i really cant do any thing. so the other day i have that idea,i can just 3d modeling pc. so do you guys have any idea which software should i use. the only one i know is soild work.but i want my model have light effect. do you guys have any suggestion?

What do you want the models for?

Making Games?

Making Movies?

Making Arcitecture?

Do you want to make cars and guns?

Do you want to make people?

 

Games, movies: Autodesk's Maya or Blender

Arcitecture/engineering: Be more specific in what kind

Cars & Guns: if for engineering maybe 3ds max or be more specific; Games/movies Maya or Blender

 

Make people/animals: Sculptris, Zbrush, 3D coat
