3.0 flash drive operating in 2.0 speeds

i purchased a flash drive from a brick store assuming it is 3.0 but it is operating in speeds of 2.0. i checked flash drive details using chip genius and it shows protocol as 2.0(what).

im 100% sure that im using the flash drive in usb 3.0 port. 

i just wanted to know that if this might be the fault of drivers or something else before i go and kick the sellers ass.

i suspect that the drive actually is 2.0 but was sold with label of 3.0(fake drives).

 

note:

os: windows 10

flash drive: SAMSUNG USB 3.0 Flash Drive BAR 32GB(at least it looks alike)

Just because it's 3.0 doesn't mean it can do 3.0 speeds. Modern HDDs are SATA 6.0Gbps but they can usually barely do 1-2Gbps.

 

If you're sure it's supposed to be faster then make sure your BIOS is set to have those ports at 3.0 and make sure you have the 3.0 drivers installed.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

so you mean this is actually 2.0 flash drive but was labeled as 3.0.

Because people who don't know better will buy it just because it says it.

the one i bought looks same and it promises speed of upto 150 MBps but i only get around 22 to 25 MBps. so i was wondering if it was driver related problem. please clarify me that would chip genius show a 3.0 flash drive as 2.0 protocol because of any driver isuues or not. so, that i would be able to decide to invest any more time in this issue or not. thanks 59b6d2eccef9f_theoneipurchased.PNG.7c78122f12794fb51506b9e96e38a1be.PNG

I have the same one. If it's a legit Samsung you should have better speeds.

 

Go to your motherboard's website (or laptop if it's a laptop) and download the latest USB 3.0 drivers from there. Also make sure you're actually plugging it into a USB 3.0 port since some of them might be 2.0. Finally, if it's a desktop front port, make sure your connected to the 3.0 header on the board and not a 2.0 header, also make sure the BIOS is set to 3.0 and not 2.0.
