So, a while back I had a lot of issues putting my first full rig together only using a case and psu from a prebuilt. I got it down to a faulty mobo and newegg replaced it for me. This time after assembly I powered it and thank god the fans turned and it's actually pretending to work some.

Now I'm having some really weird issues. When I first got it working I plugged my dvi into my gpu and got nothing on my monitor. My first gut instinct was that it was my dvi cable. It's had issues in the past and it's pretty messed up. I tried an hdmi on my gpu and didn't get anything still.

So I removed my gpu and tried both the hdmi and dvi on my motherboard and both worked.

I figured I could have seated my gpu wrong so I reinstalled it carefully and tried again. Still no response, but I did check and the gpu fan WAS turning. So my gpu was getting power.

Even after that I plugged my dvi into my motherboard with my gpu still connected and it worked for a bit. This morning I went to mess with it again and now I'm not getting video from either my mobo or gpu. (A friend said with a gpu plugged in it won't read from the mobo, don't know how true that is but it sounds believable enough.)

right now I've got it down to 2 things.

Either my psu isn't strong enough to get enough power to my gpu (new at this, don't know if that is possible or not but sounds logical enough. I have a 350w doggy brand)

or my gpu that I've been using since December of 2016 suddenly isn't working and rip my next paycheck.

Any help or questions that could help would be appreciated.

using this is the worst. Get a new, better one first then check  if issue persists.

350w doggy brand psu

That thing is not capable of outputting 350 Stable watts, that will be its maximum wattage and for 1 sec... if you install a 1060 that thing wont leave anything for the MOBO and all components will be underpowered!

MAX Wattage can only be achieved by these power supplies at most for a couple seconds, sometimes not even 1... also , as components and air gets hotter the performance drops,

The case with these PSUs is that normally they really give 50% of the printed wattage to the components while they pull 66% of the labeled/printed wattage from the wall.
