i was wondering if i can put my old hard drive to my new computer can you or can you not

if in has the right connectors, yes

you might need to format it later, but it should work

Does the HDD have anything on it? Windows? or just files and applications?

Yeah it had all my stuff steam,windows etc

Okay, It's advised to do a fresh install of windows when moving HDDs into a system. Reason for it, Windows could mess up. Drivers can cause issues. I'd recommend you back up everything that you need, such as documents, personal files onto another HDD or an external drive. Then do a new fresh install. :)

I’d recommend getting a new drive and installing a clean copy of Windows on it. You can format your old drive and use it for storage though.
