First of all, All my Office programs are crashing on my desktop, randomly. The video link underneath demonstrates;

Also, I've just bought a new laptop, and whenever I try to login to Microsoft, the windows that pops up is just a grey screen (see attached image).

Do you have Internet explorer 11 installed?

 

And btw, for what it's worth, I don't believe that you bought a new laptop.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

In this case it's required. Any Microsoft signin page for Skype Classic, Office, Visual Studio etc use IE .

Also true, I highly doubt it would have shipped with Windows 7 at this point...

I suspect it might be something to do with the fact you're loading/opening the file off of OneDrive... Does it still do this with local files?

Nope. I use OneDrive just fine. The files sync and changes happen for me. Granted I'm not running Windows 7.
