[Question] [NOT SAME POST] Connecting 1 monitor to both onboard and gpu

Cinyk

Alright, I got kind of a weird one, I use dual monitors, my right one is always connected to my GPU but I connect my left one (better monitor) to my onboard and to my dedicated card(2 different cables, 1 is HDMI, the other DVI-D), depending if I'm bitcoin mining or not (So I can still play light games on my igpu when I'm mining) .

Does anyone know of a way to always have my left monitor connected to both my Onboard & Dedicated and choose which one I want to use on the fly without having to unplug the other cable every time ? (Maybe a program or something?)

Thanks!

Doing that makes windows think that the monitor is in fact two monitors (I end up with 3 virtual screens instead of 2). Is there a way to disable either the hdmi one or the dvi one and re-enable either on the fly through a program or something so I don't have to actually unplug one of the two cables every time I want to switch from my onboard graphics to dedicated ones?

Thanks

Does Windows recognize the one monitor as both? If it does, you can mirror them together.

I mirrored them but it doesn't really solve my problem, it just uses my gpu for every game/task whether I'm on hdmi or dvi (on the monitor). But if I actually unplug either of the cables from my pc it launches the game/task accordingly (using the gpu/igpu whichever is left connected)

I just want an easy way to switch between each without having to unplug because the back of my case isn't super accessible. (Also while I mine my gets pretty laggy doing basic things unless I run on iGPU)

What about using a splitter? You can toggle the input/output you need with a click or flip of a switch. Just look up "KVM switches".

The thing is the monitor is a 144hz monitor, stuck at 60 on HDMI, and 144 on DVI-D, wouldn't I lose the 144Hz capability with one of those? I honestly can't find much

Because I do use DVI (144HZ) often when I'm not mining

That might depend on the KVM, but most are pass-throughs that don't affect the monitor.

Would you mind linking me an example ? I can't find any with both DVI and HDMI on both ends
