Really strange USB issue with my system.

First some background. Currently, I have the build shown in my description (https://pcpartpicker.com/b/xjf8TW). With the following USB devices connected: Corsair K95 (not the new one), Logitech G502 (Mouse), A Polaris RGB mousepad (sorry, got it on sale for pretty cheap) Logitech G930 (Headset). Currently, I have the keyboard connected to the USB hub built into my monitor. I also have 4 PS Move cameras connected via usb. Everything is connected to the ports in the back of the mobo (nothing connected to the front ports).

Here's the problem. While in game, my USB devices will randomly disconnect. I have been unable to figure out anything that correlates with them disconnecting, it seems totally random. It's also interesting that my mouse doesn't disconnect ever but everything else does. It will wait a few seconds and then everything reconnects at the same time and I get a notification: "The last device that you plugged in was not recognized." When I go look in device manager, everything looks totally normal. This also only seems to happen while gaming, when browsing the web, I have never had this happen. Also, once everything disconnects, whatever the last input from the keyboard continues to be sent. For example, if I was holding "W" when it disconnected in a FPS, I would continue walking forward until it reconnects.

Because this seems to only happen during gaming, my best guess is an issue with bandwidth. I've also read online that this could be a broken mobo but not sure if I believe that (source: https://forums.techguy.org/threads/windows-10-all-usb-devices-disconnect-randomly.1189627/). #denvercoder9.

Also attached a screenshot of my device manager + settings devices. Please let me know if there is any more information that would be helpful to diagnose this issue. Thanks!

EDIT: Forgot to include some unique things about my build: Using 2 16GB dims for ram (see build, they were out of the one I wanted and I really wanted my pc). Also copied all of my data (boot drive) from a sata ssd to my M.2 ssd when I got it. From what I've heard, this can cause weird problems but this issue seems pretty unrelated.

Have you determined any USB ports that always work?

From what I can tell, it seems that no ports work reliably. I have all of my cables tied together so it's really hard to find which one goes to the mouse. I've tried changing them up quite a bit with no success.

Yeah when it disconnects, the LEDs go off on all devices (except the mouse).

Update:Just got the same issue with all cameras unplugged.

Also had the problem like 7 times when not playing a game so it seems unrelated to amount of input and may not be bandwidth related. I also forgot to mention that I have checked every single power saving option and turned it off. Ports will never turn off (in theory).

Update: I've been able to get the settings app (devices tab) open when everything disconnects and it briefly flashes driver error on all of the devices and then the entire settings app crashes. It's happened at least 20 times today, I shit you not. I'm just about ready to throw my pc out the window. This single reply has been such a struggle to type out, it's disconnected 3 times already and I'm not even done writi

  • 3 weeks later...

Update on this: After quite a bit of trial and error, I have narrowed the issue down to my Corsair devices. I have contacted Corsair support and will post once I find a solution.
