My computer turns on, but it instantly goes into startup repair. I've tried start up repair, and tried to reset my computer but neither have done anything. when ever I try to reset it starts to go through the motion but then cancels a couple of seconds after I started it, and it says failed to restart. After I do a Startup repair it puts me on the screen that comes up right after boot, but it gives a log file. I attached a picture of what the log file says.

Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated

A good folk called TBA assisted me when I was having issues with Windows 10 - I've forwarded him/her this forum post URL so hopefully he'll/she'll ride in and save the day!

Hi there! I have two possible fixes I would like you to try.

Method A: Using chkdsk

Click Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt

Type the following and press enter

chkdsk /r

Method B: Using bootrec

Click Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt

Enter one command at a time.

bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildbcd

After the last command completes, you may use

exit

to restart your machine.

Let us know if either of these methods worked.

Please quote or mention me if you would like a timely reply. Thank you!

I tried both of these. They sadly did work.

I found this Reddit post, and I got everything to work except for the last step where i had to delete the file. I typed it in exactly how it was, and it says the file doesn't exist.

Have you got another PC that you're able to use? If so, head across to the Windows Recovery web page and create a Windows Recovery USB Drive.

Open up command prompt and type;

Quote

Diskpart

list disk (you should see Disk0)

sel disk 0

clean

1

Close the command prompt window and boot your computer from the USB you installed the Windows Recovery on to install a clean copy of Windows 10.

If you're also unaware of what bit Windows you have, choose the option to create recovery media for both.
