Gtx 1070 DOA?

Hello, a friend of mine bought used Galax gtx 1070 and he has a bit of a problem. When the system boots up there's an error code 62 and the screen just stays black (there's not a 'no video signal' message, it just stays black). When booting with the integrated graphics everything is fine and you can actually see the card in device manager. Don't know if it matters but the motherboard is MSI Z87 G45 Gaming. Do you think the card is dead? If not could you guys think of anything that could actually fix it?

Yes, he did.

Yup!

Does it have power? Is it plugged in to the primary PCIe slot? Was it a mining card?

I'd basically redo everything;

1. Take the GPU out of the system.
2. Start on integrated graphics
3. Make sure drivers are installed
4. Turn PC off.
5. Plug in GPU.
6. Make sure everything is seated properly.
7. Test again.

If it doesn't work now it's probably DOA.

Another thing to try would be testing it in another PC.

He's using Corsair CS650M power supply, which I think is plenty. It was plugged in the primary pci-e slot, but he tried the other two as well. And as dumb as it sounds, he doesn't know if the card was used for mining.

Flash The BIOS.I think that should solve 62.

Try putting the gpu in your system if possible. And like @Himommies said, make sure the mobo is on the latest bios.
