Need some help with an old school crossfire setup so newbies need not apply. lol , jk

The issue I'm having is that I simply cannot confirm if the ati 2600 xt supports "crossfire x". I know it supports standard crossfire , but no idea if it specifically supports "crossfire x" (3 or 4 cards)

I found only one article from 10 years ago were they attempted crossfire x with 4 2600 xt's , however at the time crossfire x was brand new and they didn't have a driver for it so they were not able to test it.

Amd's website is no help at all with their own crossfire charts not even showing standard crossfire compatibility with anything lower than the 3000 series. i only found a single blurry chart that hints that the 2000 series is crossfire x compatible

the cards I'd use have two bridge connectors each so it would be possible to physically connect them.

and what reason are you running these cards in CF to being with? are you building a retro PC?

i suppose technically I already finished it and am now wondering how absurd could I go with it.

it's already running two in crossfire which had some surprising results.

So, AMD doesn't have old ATI drivers just AMD ones.

well amd supplies all ati drivers for pretty much any os

but essentially I cannot find anyone that ever done crossfire x in the 2000 series so I think I'm outa luck

I personally can't find any info past 2 way

I did find one site that explained crossfire generations a bit more in depth

apparently the 2000 series is generation 2 crossfire and only generation 3 crossfire started supporting 3-4 cards with the advent of the 3870 x2 needing it to run with another 3870 x2
