Hey i just recived my free laptop of my DSA (disabled student allowance) and i looking to preform a few upgrades to it, mostly the ram and HDD. Its currently got a 500gb hard drive and 4 gb of ram and it will be my main machibe for university now in a few weeks. i have a budget of £80-100 and i dont know which i should put over the other. I will using it making notes and everyday uni tasks and then will be working of my desktop back in my dorm.

should i get an 8gb ram stick and have 12gb overall or get something along the lines of a small SSD and make the old Hard drive into a external one??

Go for the RAM as I assume you'll be doing a lot of multitasking being a uni student and all because I doubt storage will be a concern as all you're going to do is take notes.
