1st of all it has 6 cores and 12 threads versus 4 cores 4 threads. It will be better in almsot everything especially in the next years where devs start optimizing games to take advantage of more cores. Secondly, the platform is dead and you have to switch to a new motherboard if you want to upgrade in the future.

It has 4 RAM slots, an M.2 slot, 6 SATA ports, and a VRM which should cope with Ryzen 7. And the socket is going to be supported until 2020, which is quite a bit a longer than Z270, which is done in october. Much more sensible if you're going to upgrade, compared to the 7600K.

that was pretty solid build from @seon123 .I noticed you tried to maintain aesthetics too..if you can raise a little bit budget you can swap the board to asus b350f strix & IMO then you are perfect for 2/3 years than your previous build :D

As many have said, the 1600 is a good choice - but be prepared to lose a couple of frames in single-threaded games.

Forgot about the wireless adapter, and standard Windows from Kinguin or Reddit. Tried to keep the same case as OP, and missed the TXM for $40.

I would swap out the i5 in your initial build for a Ryzen R5 1600 and B350 board such as the Asus B350-F Strix.

A Seagate Barracuda (Green label) is also cheaper than the WD Black.

The Corsair TXM 550W is also cheaper if you are going to use rebates. Works out around $50 or so.

I would also look at adding an SSD if you don't already have one. Something like an SK Hynix SL308 250GB.

The GTX 1060 will do ok for 1080p. You definitely don't need anything higher than a GTX 1070.

Oh and up the Reds! :D

A GTX 1070 can handle 1440p. I guess it depends on the monitor you have in mind whether it would be worth going with a 1080/1080 ti etc, although that would increase your budget quite a bit.
