Have you tried reinstalling drivers? Made sure power connectors are properly plugged in?

Try using a DDU when uninstalling and reinstalling your graphics drivers. You can grab an install from http://www.guru3d.com/files-get/display-driver-uninstaller-download,19.html.

I recently had the same problem. thought it was the drivers too....... but I had a case fan in front that died not bringing in crucial air flow and the card was getting hot. Maybe check air flow, maybe try repositioning fans, maybe maybe adjust fan speed on card. Maybe pop side off case for a while.

maybe the new graphics card is hotter than old and maybe there's not enough air blowing down onto the cpu area?

maybe it is the drivers and I have yet to reproduce the effect. When it happened I was on 4k vs my usual 1920x1200......... which could be heat making the card work harder or still be software???? ( this was nvidia card too )
