It'd work. That's what I end up using when I put plastic covering on books, that and rulers.

I would watch out using hard things as you can damage the vinyl. Try to find something more rubbery. Like the thing you use to take water off car side windows.

I know, but not the sort you would use for vinyl wrapping things! And most people own the car version if they own a car.
