Yeah it wouldn't work due to the 4 pole design. You would need to buy an adapter(although a sound card with 4-pole support would work too).

Here's a link to one in india: http://www.amazon.in/CABLESETC-Stereo-Splitter-Female-Adapter/dp/B00PLJP7GC

So I just bought a cheepo generic Lav Mic from Amazon.in, it works with my phone but not my pc. I think it's probably because its 4 pole(I'm not Sure), but i can't find any 4 pole to 3 pole in India, all i find is Headphone and mic to 3 pole adapter which i don't need. I found a USB sound card (http://www.amazon.in/Quantum-QHM623-USB-Sound-Card/dp/B007Z9K45U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503480602&sr=8-1&keywords=sound+card) can i use it to get it to work. i also attached a photo of the end of the mic, so ya'll can confirm if it is 4 pole.

You need a 4-pole to 2x3-pole splitter for it to work.

The splitter basically, well, splits the mic and speakers into 2 plugs.

Essentially this:

Note: just by looking at it, I doubt that sound card would help. I have one very similar and it supports 3 pole only.

Bah. I've had this opened in a tab for 35 minutes before getting around to replying? FFS I'm slow.

so i should just plug my mic at IN and plug the MIC cable in my pc and just leave the HEADPHONE cable dangling.
