So I've done a lot of pc upgrades in the past. Never a full build before. Mostly just buying dells and adding a new psu and gpu for friends.

I've also upgraded a lot of parts in my personal system. A few days ago I started a project of rebuilding everything in my PC.

I replaced everything with the exception of the psu and the hdd.

After finally completing the build I plugged it in and the leds for the motherboard came on and there was power going out the USB ports but pressing the power button doesn't boot the system.

I have checked the front panel about 20 times and checked online and the manual a billion times. I'm sure everything is connected properly and I tried jumping it with a screwdriver. I'm fairly certain I've got everything connected properly.

I also thought my psu might be too weak. It's only 350w but after doing research on that it's supposedly enough for my system. I even tried launching it with only my hdd and CPU. (Disconnected my gpu and ssd). So, I feel like there's something wrong with the launching or something. There's power getting to the motherboard or the leds wouldn't light up and the USB ports wouldn't be working.

Specs:

gpu - pny gtx 960 2gb

cpu - i5 7600k

mobo - z270 killer sli/ac

ram - 16gb ddr4 2400

psu - (not sure of exact one) 350w something

hdd - (again, not sure of the exact one) 1tb that came with prebuilt.

Ssd - Samsung 850 evo 250gb

the case came with the prebuilt as well and  I'm not sure the model, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have any leds for my hdd or my power.

I tried to give as much info as I possible can. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. Thank you.

350W? That's very little. If you have a minimum 500W PSU lying around, try using that instead.

HEADS UP, THIS ACCOUNT IS INACTIVE NOW

I'm keeping everything else the way it was for anyone who might check out my answers in future, but I won't be using LTT.

I don't have another psu. I'd have to order one. Even then that's kind of worst case scenario seeing as I'm already well over my budget.

Wouldn't 350w atleast launch to my desktop with no gpu connected though? After looking into it my CPU at max power shouldn't take up anywhere near 350.

If your PSU is some dodgy brand from China (I assume so, since you don't know what it is), then that could also be the issue.

also 350 is a little on the light side, should be enough to at least start the system.

Initially I only had 4 on it, but around 2 hours ago I realized I had another 4 to connect.

So ive got the full 8 pin thing connected and it's still not booting.

I'm pretty sure it does. There's a 20 and a 4 I believe. I have the 20 below the 4 but it's all in and secure. That's one of the few things I haven't looked into hard core so it could be wrongly hooked up.

I'm sorry, what? "Sparkle Power Inc."? That has to be the dodgiest sounding PSU company I've heard of yet. Sure, it might not be the cause of the issue now (I suggest asking around, perhaps friends have a PSU you can borrow) but that bitch could fuck your system up big time if it blew. I recommend getting one from the big 6: Corsair, Seasonic, EVGA, Antec, Thermaltake, or Cooler Master. The PSU is the only component of a system that can kill basically every other component.

It most likely is a piece of garbage, but it works for now. I don't have any friends that know anything about pcs so I'll most likely have to buy a new one.

Think it would be fine for a few days/weeks til I can get a new one? Or am I going to have to not use it til I get a new one?

And my PC still won't boot so there's that problem also. Any idea on what could go wrong between the motherboard and actually booting? Leds for mobo on and USB working but won't boot and no fan movement.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS? If you don't know how to do that, just remove the little round battery for a few seconds and putting it back in. Then try booting again. That PSU should be fine for a little while, just use it minimally.

Or do the disassembly of shame and put everything together again. Since you are building your first complete rig there might be hookups you missed. maybe a screw under the motherboard got stuck? maybe sth. connector is not plugged in right.

but your PSU needs to go, thats for sure. allthough I would keep the sticker from it :-) "sparkle power  Inc." thats great :-)
