x58 and more than 16gb of ram.

Hi, i have just installed an other set of 12gb ram. Like expected it only shows 16gb of 24. Looked again the linus video about this, enabled the memory protect config. still not fixed. I wonder if there are anything else that can make this not working?

All 6 are detected, look the screenshot :)

What Board? and is your BIOS updated?

Yes, the bios is the lastest. Asus rampage 3 extreme, same model as linus had in it's video. But the fix that worked for him does not for me :(

Do you have XMP enabled? that can cause issues

Yes i have, but i tried to do it manually, changed the timing ( an other youtuber fixed his problem with Trfc timing, tried that too, nothing :(

Remove ram stick 6 and see if it recognizes 20GB ram

try booting with those sticks switched and see if it works

Yea, that sounds like that dimm stick dosen't want that slot :P

try switching those dimms and if it still only does 20 its a dead slot

Switched 4th slot to 6th slot, it works, 20gb too. Will restart and put the last dimm in 4th slot and hope it's all good :D thanks you for you help!

About the ram, all is good now, just had a picky slot :P

 

Just have got a bsod, but might be unrelated. Thanks you!
