Low FPS for some reason

Go to solution Solved by Schmidget,

I found my problem from here.

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/127518-13-sudden-drops-games

I probably should've done a bit more research into this since it seemed pretty easy to find.

For the past week or two I have been experiencing a dip in my FPS for no apparent reason. Across the board in games such as Overwatch, Battlefield 1 and CS:GO, just to name a few, my FPS is half of what it used to be. Overwatch I used to be capped at about 180 and now sitting at 80, BF1 I'm starting to dip below 60 and even in CS:GO I'm struggling to even maintain 100 FPS. I've already tried a few things such as increasing fan speeds, lightly dusting out the case and monitoring CPU/GPU usages/temperatures to try and identify the problem but none of solutions worked. I am open to any suggestions as to what may be wrong with my system as it is only 8 months old with some even newer parts sprinkled into the mix. Here is my system if you are wondering about specs: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Qsn2yf

What programs are you running in the background while playing games, bloatware on your pc can cause massive performance dips, having too many applications in use can cause stutter on the 4 core 4 thread models of cpus depending on what you're doing. If using a gpu ocing program I'd set that to default, see if your drivers are up to date, and you said you were monitoring temps what exactly were they for the cpu/gpu. Also I'd go into bios and make sure it's set to optimized default and manually input ram clock and timings if you have a good set, or xmp if available.

The majority of background programs, from what I can tell, are all being used and only use 1% at most. I have no overclocks set and I updated my drivers a few days ago. From playing earlier my CPU maxed at 40C and my GPU maxed at 61C. My BIOS is also updated but I haven't optimized it like you said.

Go ahead and set optimized in the bios and ram speed if yours isn't set, and when you get back into windows go to power settings and make sure its set to high performance instead of balanced and see what happens cause it seems like its core parking if your cpu is only getting 40c even on an aio. If all else fails I'd give uninstalling your display drivers and reinstalling, never hurts to try the classic.

Ok, just now tried that and not seeing any noticeable improvement. I also tried downloading an older version of my driver because the new one came out around the time my FPS slowed, that also showed no noticeable improvement.
