Upgrading computer system

7 years ago I purchased a computer with a ASUS M4a79T deluxe mother board, AMD Phenom IIx6 1090T cpu, 16 Gb ddr3 ram, AMD Firepro W2100 graphics card I upgraded last year and a 950 Watt Corsair power supply. I use two monitors and  use different Cad programs and Flight Simulation programs. I will be using US dollars. I don't want to wait until my computer dies so I'm looking to upgrade now. I would like to keep as much as possible of what i have. I'm looking for a 4.7 to 5.0 g cpu. I know if I keep the same ram I'm limitied to a few processors. I'm asking for advise which way to go without spending no more than $200.00 for the mother board and $300 to $400 for the cpu.

I don't know why you're basing everything off frequency when ipc and core count matters too.

Its hard to find any cpu below 400$ that will go to 4.7Ghz or even 5.0Ghz unless youre an overclocking magician. Most cpu's without proper cooling would become way too hot and unstable at those clock speeds

The AMD FX 9590 is the only retail processor with clock speeds that high. However, the performance is actually worse than even 3rd gen Core i5 processors.

Clock speeds are not as important as they used to be. The fastest clocked CPU other than the AMD FX 9590 will be the Core i7-8700K @ 4.7 GHz for a single core.

I'm glad I asked for the advise I recieved and like what your saying. i will take your advise and learn more about ipc, cores etc. before buying. Thanks to everyone.
