Is it worth matching part brands? (i.e. ASUS mother board with ASUS GPU)

Go to solution Solved by ImperialSteele,

It won't effect performance at all (given they are clocked at the same speed, etc), I do like doing it for aesthetic appeal, cause ASUS FTW.

not sure if this is a total n00b question (ive never built a computer before) but is it worth matching brands of parts when building a computer? For instance, in my current selection of parts i have chosen an ASUS mother board and an ASUS GPU. would it have any noticeable effects if i, for instance, swapped it for one made by EVGA or MSI??

Unless you need a special feature (Aura Sync), It shouldn't hurt you to mix part suppliers.

My PC:

Macbook Pro 13", 2017 w/ Touchbar

Specs:

CPU: 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory: 8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3

Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 1536 MB

From a performance standpoint, no. Some things like RGB sync software may only work with same or compatible brands though.
