I just got my replacement Alienware 13 R3, but I seem to be having some issues. Even thought the laptop is not supposed to turn off the RGB lighting (AlienFX), dim the screen, or go to sleep while plugged in, it still does all of those things. The RGB lights turn off in a matter of five seconds, the screen dims soon after, and it goes to sleep just after that. Sometimes they come on again all on their own. This has interrupted important file transfers and has set me back quite a while.

What would you recommend? Should I reinstall Alienware Command Center or do a fresh Windows install? Or does this sound like a wiring issue to you?

Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Power Options > Change plan settings for one you wish > Change advanced power settings

There you can choose how laptop behave while plugged in.

But I am not sure about RGB issue though. Reinstall Command Center first as it doesn't require a back up, see if it fixes. If not try a Windows re-installation.

Is this an issue that you have faced right when you receive the replacement laptop?

Yeah. I'm completing an important transfer now so I just sit here moving the mouse every few seconds.

It's set to never go to sleep when plugged in, just as I thought.
