Hello.

I'm new to this forum and need help with something.

At the moment this is my specs:

 8c3effb99d8e834b4e1f761e494a4193.png

Okay so basically my CPU is Bottle-necking my GPU and I'm looking a CPU that will give me the most out of my GPU. I will be using for Gaming & Rendering videos. So can you guys give me some suggestions? Also would a AMD FX-9590 Bottleneck my GTX 1080?

Thanks! :D

Would an i7-7700K work well with the 1080?

Yeah but it won't be as good at rendering videos as a 1600 or 1700

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

What about gaming wise? What would be best?

7700k would be better for gaming by around 10%, though if you're monitor is 1080p 60 hz you won't notice the difference between any of the CPUs since they all can push way more than 1080p 60 hz.

Cool. I will be playing in 1080p but I'm looking to get the best possible fps with these components.

Any more suggestions?

If gaming is all you do then go for the 7700K + Z270 mobo if you want to OC or 7700 + B250/H270 mobo of you don't.

If I were you, the next upgrade after that would be my monitor to 4K or 1440p (ultrawide if you like) or a high refresh rate 1080p monitor.

At 1080p your GPU will be idling around a lot no matter what you do, unless you set it to a higher resolution and then downscaling, which still won't amount to much other than the GPU usage going up :P I mean, it will be a substitute for AA in some sense.

At the same time, at 60Hz a high end CPU will also idle around, unless you let FPS uncapped at the risk of tearing. If you do, your system can push more than 60FPS, but your screen still will only show 60.

Bottom line: in your current setup, your GPU is overkill, but you can upgrade your CPU a bit. "Too much" CPU upgrade, and both your CPU and GPU will be overkill. Basically, you don't need such strong hardware for that screen. If you upgrade your monitor, then it's a different story. Until then, any CPU+GPU combination that gives you 60 FPS minimum in the games you play is equivalent.
