Hey guys, I'm looking for a little advice.

I have two GPUs that have broken fans, both are dual fan cards but when running at 100% they need to be at 100% to compensate for the missing fan.

Card 1: EVGA Gtx 970 ACX 2.0

Card 2: Unknown two fan Radeon HD 7950

My thinking is, if I buy four PWM fans, two for each card i should be able to replace the fans on the cards. get rid of the plastic shroud and zip-tie the new fans to the cards(two per card).

The question i have is would i be able to simply plug the new fans into the GPU PWM fan sockets or will it be more difficult than that do you think? Also can anyone recommend any fans for the job that wont break the bank?

Cheers For any help you can give. :)

Unscrew dead fan, put new fan. Boom! Replaced. An yeah it is that easy. My 7850 (One fan) just requires 4 screws to unmount fan. I have personally ever one a dual fan card but I think it is like this. Oh and running always 100 porcent fan speed will highly decrease lifespan of the fan itself.

Im aware of the lifespan decrease by running 100%. They only have to run like this once the first fan died. The issue i have is I am struggling to find replacement fans, especially for the 7950. Also the ACX coolers are loud as all hell so i wouldn't mind replacing it anyway.

I will search a replacement through newegg.

Im pretty sure they do.

I have no idea why but I always thought they didn't for some reason. Well off i go to look at Newegg although i still like the sound of my original plan. But then again, I have always been one to tinker and mod things.

The GPU's will most likely have a tiny PWM connector, which is very likely different from the stock connectors on your new fans. (if you buy regular case fans) You could butcher the origional fan headers, and solder them onto your new case fan. That way, it "should" work just fine.

You could also just hotwire them to a Molex, and just run them at full speed.

I think fan replacement is way more convinient since it will be a lot quieter. My card at 100 porcent speed is worst than my cpu fan at 100 porcent.

Thanks, this is pretty much what i was thinking about doing, just take the connector for the old fans and solder+heat shrink the new fan cables onto it.

@MadOverclocker

Blower style fans are always loud anyway due to their inherent design, getting low noise high static pressure case fans could make for a pretty quiet set up anyway.
