Back a month or so, my PC went into sleep mode and upon trying to wake it up, no response from the monitor. So, I restart it and it infinitely stays in the Windows loading screen. Refresh windows, keep files, everything seems fine. Except I start getting killer screen tearing, whereas before it was so minimal that I couldn't notice it- even if I tried. This was without G-Sync or FreeSync.
I thought the problem could've been with a corrupt drive, maybe my SSD messed something up, etc. Essentially, I thought a reinstall would help mediate the issue.
I reinstalled W10 after a few failed attempts for stupid reasons but, once I actually logged in I noticed that it didn't detect my HDD until I gave it a drive letter in management. I go to test my speakers- no response, it's routed to my microphone's headphone jack by default. No problem, I go to the lower right corner, click the sound icon and.. can't find the drop-menu for sound output. I can only change it by changing default devices.
I go to update my Nvidia drivers and nothing- "This version of our driver isn't compatible with this version of Windows" or whatever. This happened for every single update that Windows was trying to download as well.

I'm not sure if this is a borked copy or whatever, but what should I be doing here?

I downloaded the ISO from the person I bought the copy of Windows from on eBay, it's an OEM key. It worked on other PC's normally when installed before, I'm not sure why it isn't now. I'm downloading another copy through MS' Media Creation tool, though I dunno how reliable that is.

Make sure to always set the color of text to "automatic" (If you could do it right now it would be nice) so us dark theme users could see it :)

okay, you should always use the MS media creation tool, getting it directly from microsoft is the best option. and you should now that a key for win 10 binds to a motherboard once it is used, so the tool can be used as often as you want but the key only once. you should probably do a clean install of windows now, if the key is valid it should be bound to your motherboard and it should be recognized automatically.

Aren't OEM keys ripped from broken motherboards with pre-installed keys?

It looks like I've been running Windows 10 version 1507, which is apparently lacking in security features and whatnot and is known to be fucky with updates after the Anniversary edition. The creation tool downloads the latest build, right? I'm gonna go and give that a shot.

Yup. You should always get it from the MS site. You can use a key from anywhere so long as it's legit (or use no key at all), but you should always get the ISO from Microsoft.
