Posted August 10, 2017 My notebook have intel i5 6200u(hp w103dx) but i also like to game on it so only way to get playable frame rate is on high performance mode(not even balance mode),I use it all the time while playing. it does produce lots of heat but i have laptop cooler which pumps fresh air from beneath, while playing BF1(campaign only) max noted temp was 74C, now my only concern is i use it like this for straight 4 to 5 hours, will it effect it in long run, will it decrease the performance overtime because it basically running in turbo mode all the time, or worse is there a chance it will totally fry ? I dont want to risk my only laptop. Thanks in adv. Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/820150-will-it-fry/ Share on other sites
 Posted August 10, 2017 Yes, you might be at risk. Same kind of stuff Linus did: get castrated. It will heat up them balls, which reduces sperm production >>> ideal if you don't want any kids. Posted August 10, 2017 Play the game in high performance mode and note the temp and FPS. Change the power setting to 99% and play the same game, note the temp and FPS. If the FPS is the same or higher (Maybe it's thermal throttling in High mode) at 99% power then you should leave it there. If it's not, then you get a free vasectomy. Posted August 10, 2017 Older laptops? Yeah maybe. Newer laptops? I don't think so. I used my laptop which had a N2840 (Was fanless) and putting it to high performance mode didn't change temperatures. What high performance does it put your CPU to 100% usage even in idle.
