adm ryzen 1700 vs 1800x?

is there any benefit for getting a amd ryzen 1800x vs a amd ryzen 1700?

 

Just planning another new build, also if im going with the 1800x shall i just get the 1080ti instead of a 1070. (money is not a problem)

You are likely to hit 3.8 or even 3.9hgz on a 1700. Maybe even 4.0 on all cores but that's 1) Not given and 2) Probably requiring more voltage that what might be comfortable (1.4 or above) The 1800x is better binned so most of the time it should reach 3.9 and 4.0 more easily (Voltage doesn't translates because the 1800x has a higher TDP by default)

 

Overall I think that the differences in performance between 3.8 and 4.0 on all cores are not that great. If you already have 3200 memory this would be maybe 5% or so better speeds. Most people decide to basically gamble on the cheaper 1700 since even if you get a not so great chip the difference is minuscule and even if you spend more on the 1800x expecting to get more you might not.
