This has the potential to be the best card ever released, and the worst.

So far, vega has been a failure. Sure, it beats the 1080 by a bit, but it is not enough. It is over a year after pascal has came out, and AMDs performance is abysmal when you compare it to nvidias flagship. But AMD has much a superior technology when copmpared to both intel and nvidia, and that technology is infinity fabric. It offers perfect scalability at a much lower cost than manufacturing large and high performance dies. With gpus anyway, cores are just as valued as clockspeeds, and that is amazing for amd. We already know that they are going to be using this technique for navi, that is why they mentioned scalability in their timelime, but by then it will likely be too late and their repuation will have degraded to a point where not many will even consider buying it unless it beats nvidia by a very large margin. This really has already happened, as often i encounter people on tech forums (thankfully not this one) recommending things like the 1060 3gb over the 480 4gb and sometimes even the 960 over the 470. Amd really needs to regain their reputation soon, and this card has the potential to do it.

That is, of course, if it uses infinity fabric. If it does, this card will bring the ti to its knees without the need of sli or crossfire. It will truly be the fastest single card on the planet. Amd will have come back from the dead and truly beaten nvidia. Poor volta indeed.

But if it doesnt, then it is just another shitty dual gpu card, with a tdp that is trough the fucking roof. 600watts for something that will perform worse than a 1080ti in many scenarios (when you consider microstutter and not just raw fps). It will also certainly be priced higher and cost much much more to run, not to mention requiring a kilowatt psu. Not to mention its performance will be similar to a 1080 setup which you can get used for a lot cheaper as there a lot of people upgrading from that to the ti.

All i can say is that I hope this card is successful, for AMDs sake.

"Here is some advice that might have gotten lost somewhere along the way in your life.

#1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.
